The possibility of Los Angeles Dodgers free agent pitcher Jack Flaherty landing with the San Diego Padres has been discussed.
According to MLB Network’s Jon Morosi, while it would be surprising due to the intense rivalry between the Dodgers and Padres, there is mutual respect between the two sides.
It was noted that Flaherty had a heated exchange with the Padres during the National League Division Series. Now, with Joe Musgrove expected to miss the 2025 season, the Padres are in need of starting pitching.
In addition to the Padres, Morosi also mentioned the Los Angeles Angels as a potential landing spot for Flaherty, as they are also looking to bolster their starting pitching rotation.
While the Dodgers have been linked to other top starting pitchers in the market, Flaherty is seen as a solid option if they are unable to secure their primary targets.
Flaherty had a successful 2024 season, posting a 2.95 ERA with the Detroit Tigers before being traded to the Dodgers, where he continued to perform well.
