What had been promoted as a bold, boundary-pushing tennis spectacle ultimately unfolded more like a polished exhibition than the high-voltage showdown it was billed to be. “Honestly, it was a really tough match, she is a hell of a player and such a great champion,” Kyrgios said after the match.
Overall, the exhibition was entertaining but bore little resemblance to the original 1973 Battle of the Sexes. Some fans even criticized it for diluting the legacy of that landmark event and potentially undermining women’s tennis.
