Notre Dame women’s basketball was well represented Saturday night at the WNBA All-Star game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

Former Irish guards Skylar Diggins, Kayla McBride, Sonia Citron and Jackie Young were all part of the weekend festivities, which concluded with Team Collier beating Team Clark, 151-131.

Diggins, a South Bend Washington product and 2009 Miss Basketball coming out of high school, played in her seventh WNBA All-Star game. She logged 21 minutes and had a team-high and whopping 15 assists to go with 11 points and 11 rebounds in Team Collier’s victory. It is the first triple double in WNBA All-Star history. Diggins, 34, is a 2013 Notre Dame grad and now plays for the Seattle Storm.

McBride, 33, played in her fourth All-Star game after being a late addition to Team Collier’s roster, replacing an injured Rhyne Howard. She played 19 minutes and contributed 15 points and three rebounds. McBride is a 2014 Irish grad now playing for the Minnesota Lynx.

Citron, 21, played in her first all-star game, being a WNBA rookie with the Washington Mystics. She logged 21 minutes for Team Clark, scoring 11 points to go with two rebounds and two assists. Citron graduated from Notre Dame this past spring before being the No. 3 pick in the WNBA Draft.

Young, 27, played in her fourth consecutive WNBA All-Star game, getting in for just one minute for Team Clark. She was the No. 1 pick in the 2019 WNBA Draft by the Las Vegas Aces, the team she remains with. Young left Notre Dame after her junior season of play. Young was the 2016 Miss Indiana Basketball out of Princeton High School.

Captain Napheesa Collier (Minnesota Lynx) set a WNBA All-Star game record with 36 points to lead her squad overall. Kelsey Mitchell (Indiana Fever) led Team Clark with 20 points. Captain Caitlin Clark (Indiana Fever) did not play in the game due to injury.
