CHAMPAIGN, Ill. —Illinois women’s basketball team kept Le Moyne to just 9.1 percent from 3-point range in a 2-for-22 shooting performance on the way to a 100-28 victory over the Dolphins at home Sunday, its first time in triple digits since Nov. 15, 2023.

The Fighting Illini (6-1) had six players score in double figures, led by Cearah Parchment, who put together a double-double with 17 points and 10 steals. Parchment’s 10 steals tie the program’s single-game record and represent just the second points-steals double-double in program history, both of which were last achieved by Shavonna Hunter on Dec. 18, 1999.

Berry Wallace added 17 points and Maddie Webber helped out with 15 points and two steals from the bench.

Led by Webber’s two offensive rebounds, Illinois crashed the offensive glass, pulling down 11 boards that resulted in 10 second chance points.

Illinois disrupted Le Moyne’s shooting throughout in the contest, coming away with five blocks. Lety Vasconcelos led the way individually for the Fighting Illini with two rejections.

How It Happened

After jumping out to a 4-2 advantage, Illinois went on a 20-0 run with 8:52 left in the first quarter, culminating in a bucket from Gretchen Dolan, increasing its lead to 24-2. The Fighting Illini then added eight more points before the end of the period and entered the quarter break with a 36-6 advantage. Illinois did most of its first quarter damage in the paint, scoring 28 of its 36 points close to the basket.

Illinois kept its lead intact, going on a 7-0 run starting at the 2:53 mark in the second period, highlighted by a three from Webber, to build its lead to 50-13. The Fighting Illini maintained that lead for the remainder of the period and enjoyed a 52-15 advantage heading into halftime. Illinois forced eight Le Moyne turnovers in the period and turned them into eight points.

Illinois wasted no time increasing its lead, going on a 19-0 run, punctuated by a basket from Destiny Jackson, to expand its lead further to 71-15 with 2:19 to go in the third. The Fighting Illini entered the fourth quarter with a 75-19 edge. Illinois played well near the basket, scoring 12 of its 23 points in the paint.

The Illini continued to widen the lead, expanding it to 90-26 before going on a 7-0 run with 2:42 to go in the contest. Illinois got a boost from its bench in the period, with non-starters scoring 14 of its 25 total points, including the final basket from Mia Zenere to secure the 100-28 victory.
