Wallace Earns Third Big Ten Weekly Honor Roll Nod of Season

ROSEMONT, Ill. – From Jan. 15-18, Fighting Illini sophomore Berry Wallace delivered the best week of basketball of her young career at Illinois and was named to the Big Ten Weekly Honor Roll for her efforts the league office announced Monday.

Wallace averaged a monster 27.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.0 steal, 1.0 block, and a 4.0 assist/turnover ratio while playing two complete 40-minute games for the Illini. Wallace went 19-for-37 from the field (48.6%) and 17-for-19 (89.5%) from the free throw line while knocking down a pair of 3-pointers as well.

Wallace turned in 26 points on a 61.5/50.0/88.9% slash line in Illinois’ battle on the road at No. 8 Michigan. She followed that up with a career-high 29 points in the Fighting Illini’s seventh-straight win over Northwestern. In addition to her 11th 20-point game of the season (ranks third in Big Ten, 10th in NCAA), Wallace added 9 rebounds (4 offensive), 3 assists, and a steal in Illinois’ 15th win of the season. In the fourth quarter of Sunday’s win over Northwestern, Wallace willed the Illini to victory, scoring 12 of Illinois’ 16 points in the final frame. Wallace has now scored 20+ points in six of the last seven games and in seven of the last nine outings. The sophomore has now played all 40 minutes in four of the last five games as well.

The Jan. 19 recognition marks the third Big Ten Honor Roll nod of the season for Wallace.

Illinois is back in action on Saturday, Jan. 24 at No. 24 Nebraska for a 1 p.m. contest on Big Ten Network.
