Welsh international ace Powell signs new Bristol City deal

Welsh international ace Ella Powell has signed a new one-year contract with Bristol City.

The Robins announced the news via a post on their official club website this afternoon.

The 25-year-old has spent the last four years with Bristol City after joining the club from Charlton Athletic in summer 2021. Powell helped The Robins to the Barclays WSL2 title in 2022/2023 and she is closing in on her 100th appearance in a Bristol City shirt in all competitions.

The player has bags of second tier experience, not only from her time with Bristol City, but also from spells with Lewes and Charlton Athletic. Her know-how will be needed this season if Bristol City are to push for promotion back to the Barclays Women’s Super League.

After opting to extend her stay with Bristol City, Powell said “I’m delighted to be signing a new contract with this club. It’s no secret that last season was difficult and personally for me a disappointing campaign.

“But, with this exciting chapter with Wales and going to our first major tournament, I am full of confidence and absolutely ready to hit the ground running and help push this team forward in a new era for the club.”

Powell will report for pre-season training with Bristol City after the conclusion of Wales’ involvement at UEFA Women’s EURO 2025.
