There is not much happening in terms of meta development in Dota currently. With the patch remaining the same for a long time, creativity is limited as the most reliable options dominate the field. However, there are some interesting outliers worth highlighting. These heroes may not be meta yet, but they are playable and deserve further exploration.
The hero’s winrate in tournaments may not be impressive, but we believe that he is relevant in the current meta. After the recent major buff, his skill build allows for more aggressive play in the laning stage, providing both pressure and safety.
His Frost Shield at level one offers a 45% attack damage reduction. This allows the hero to opt for a 3-1-1-1 build by level six, creating a potentially strong laner if mana issues are addressed.
To address mana problems, instead of using Mangoes as usual, we suggest pairing Lich with heroes like Wraith King or Beastmaster in duo play to create a formidable harassing force.
Additionally, his abilities work well against summon-heavy heroes like Enigma, making him a decent counter-pick in certain situations. While his ultimate can deal significant damage, it is unreliable and difficult to maximize.
The offlane seems to be moving away from the Aura meta slowly. Dawnbreaker is a result of this shift, with a high winrate showing potential for success as a somewhat greedy offlaner.
Her global mobility allows her to join fights easily, while her flexibility in item builds allows for different playstyles. Dawnbreaker can opt for aggressive items like Blade Mail and Blink Dagger, enabling her to jump and kill backline supports effectively.
The return of Pugna to the meta is linked to the popularity of Storm Spirit. Pugna’s role as a “mana battery” focuses on supporting and protecting cores, making him valuable in certain team compositions.
Pugna pairs well with Muerta and excels at dealing damage and poking enemies from a distance. While team composition-dependent, Pugna can be a powerful ally when played effectively in a coordinated party.
While we await the new patch eagerly, there is still much to explore and learn from the current meta. Share your thoughts on the current meta—are there hidden strategies or are you looking forward to a fresh patch?
