The Bucs signed veteran outside linebacker Randy Gregory on April 4 to bring experience to Tampa Bay’s young group of pass rushers and edge defenders.
However, Gregory has been absent from Bucs workouts this offseason. He skipped voluntary OTAs and unexcused mandatory mini-camp, leading to fines exceeding $100,000.
Will Gregory show up for training camp next week? Players report on July 23, with the first practice the following day.
In an interview with Pewter Report’s Scott Reynolds, Bucs head coach Todd Bowles seemed unsure about Gregory’s status, saying, “We’ll see. Players go through personal things and have decisions to make.”
Bowles emphasized the complexity of the defensive scheme and stated that Gregory is far behind other outside linebackers.
Reynolds suggested the Bucs cut Gregory if he doesn’t report for camp, given his history of personal issues and ongoing lawsuit against the NFL.
Bowles praised the young talent in the outside linebacker room and expressed excitement about their growth together.
Randy Gregory Might Not Show Up, But Will Tristan Wirfs To Report To Camp?
Bowles expects Tristan Wirfs to be present at training camp, despite the left tackle’s absence from previous team activities. Wirfs is currently participating in the strength and conditioning program at One Buccaneer Place, awaiting contract negotiations.
Bowles remains optimistic about the situation, understanding the business side of football and expressing confidence that the contract negotiations will be resolved in due time.
