In the 2025 regular season, WNBA teams are set to play a record 44 games, starting on May 16 with the Golden State Valkyries’ first home game. The league announced the full schedule on Monday, with an additional four games added in anticipation of the Valkyries’ inaugural season as the 13th team in the league.
WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert expressed excitement about the upcoming season, highlighting the success of the previous season and the league’s record-breaking achievements in viewership, attendance, digital consumption, and merchandise sales.
Key matchups in the opening weekend include the Fever facing off against the Sky, the Liberty hosting the Aces, and the Lynx taking on the Wings. The Fever will also host the All-Star Game for the first time on July 19, with the regular season concluding on Sept. 11.

Schedule highlights
Chicago vs. Indiana (June 7) — Featuring the second of five meetings between the Fever and Sky this season. The matchup between the Dream and Sky on June 13 in the Commissioner’s Cup will showcase two new head coaches, Karl Smesko and Tyler Marsh. The regular season will also feature intriguing games like Indiana vs. Dallas on June 27 and New York vs. Las Vegas on July 8.
The WNBA schedule for 2025 will introduce several changes, including an extended Commissioner’s Cup and a revised playoff format. The Commissioner’s Cup will run from June 1-17, with a $500,000 prize pool, and the playoffs will adopt a 1-1-1 setup for the first round series. The WNBA Finals will now be a best-of-seven format, with the higher seed hosting Games 1, 2, 5, and 7.
