JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – North Florida women’s soccer (2-1-1) scored in the opening minute and added one more en route to a 2-0 shutout win against Alabama A&M (0-4) Sunday, Aug. 25.
Bella Pontieri scored with a big left foot for her inaugural collegiate goal, which marked the fastest goal in program history, while Paige McSwigan added another long-range strike in the 14th minute.

Inside the Match
First Half: Bella Pontieri got the Ospreys off to a hot start, receiving the ball from Brialyn Anderson and driving forward, having a go from outside the 18 and finding the back of the net just seconds in … the Bulldogs found themselves in the Osprey box, forcing a shot that was blocked … in the 14th minute, Taylor Tamares found Paige McSwigan, who took a beautiful shot from right outside the 18-yard box to make it 2-0 UNF.
Second Half: North Florida had a number of opportunities in the second half, posting double-digit shots, although neither the Ospreys or Bulldogs could find the back of the net … AAMU created more chances, notching five corner kicks after failing to tally one in in the first half.
