FREDONIA, N.Y. – The Buffalo State women’s soccer team battled the Fredonia Blue Devils to a 1-1 draw in a tightly contested rivalry matchup, extending their unbeaten streak to five games.

Olivia Kilmer (Hammondsport, NY/Avoca) scored the lone goal for the Bengals, assisted by Kaylee Valentic (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda). With the assist, Valentic officially moves into the top five on the Buffalo State women’s soccer program’s all-time career scoring list — congratulations!
In goal, Addy Williams (Grapevine, TX/Grapevine) played the full 90 minutes, recording ten saves for the Bengals.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Coming off their third straight SUNYAC victory, the Buffalo State Bengals entered their rivalry matchup with the Fredonia Blue Devils in high spirits. From the opening whistle, both teams looked to establish offensive rhythm, trading scoring chances throughout the half. Despite the flurry of shots from both sides, each defense held firm to keep the match scoreless at the break. The Blue Devils held a narrow 14-10 edge in shots through the first 45 minutes.
Early in the second half, the Blue Devils broke the deadlock with a goal in the 51st minute, putting pressure on the Bengals to respond. The Bengals intensified their attack, controlling possession and forcing the Blue Devils onto their heels. Their persistence paid off in the 79th minute when they found the equalizer. Both teams pressed for a late winner, but neither side could break through, as the Bengals and Blue Devils settled for a draw in a hard-fought installment of the “Battle by the Lake” rivalry.

Kacey Mosher scored the lone Blue Devils goal.
Casey Fetzner would make nine-saves in full time action in net.

The Bengals will return to Coyer Field on Saturday, October 11th, to host the Cortland Red Dragons at 1:00 P.M.
