JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – North Florida women’s soccer dropped a hard-fought match to UCF, 2-0, at Hodges Stadium on Thursday night.

Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Chrissa Avery secured four saves during the inital 15 minutes of action including a diving save during the 12th minute to keep the score knotted at 0-0.

She would continue her elite defensive play during the second half ending the match with a career-best eight saves. The eight saves also marked a single-match team high for the Ospreys. For Avery, it marked her second-straight match with at least five saves and her second start of the season.

For the Ospreys, redshirt junior forward/midfielder Isabella Pontieri tacked on pair of shots including one shot on goal, sophomore midfielder Taylor Tamares fired off her second shot on goal of the year and sophomore forward Allison Souers added a shot.

Avery, Sophomore defender Julia Cosgrove, freshman defender Marisa Ocasek and sophomore midfielder Sarah Frazer each logged the full 90 minutes for the Ospreys. For Cosgrove, it marked the fifth match this season that she’s played the full time.

Redshirt junior forwards Reese Radecki and Allie Fekany both made their third-consecutive starts.

Despite being tied at the break, UCF would go on to score a pair of goals during the 55th and 73rd minute.

North Florida will continue its four-match home stand as it will welcome West Georgia. Kick-off is set for 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 18.
