McKendree was poised to open the postseason in a strong fashion and looks to defend its crown, beginning the GLVC Championship Tournament with the goal in mind. The Bearcats, after going down one goal in the 18th minute, fired back quickly and decisively to take command of the contest.
In the 19th minute, Spotanski connected on the equalizer after getting the helpers from senior forward Anna Stiffler and senior defender Maria Voss. McKendree and UIS held at 1-1 until the 37th minute when the Bearcats put up the eventual game-winner from Andrews. Sophomore defender Zoe Cormier sent the long ball into the box which Andrews corralled and fired into the back of the net. McKendree then added an insurance goal behind Spotanski in the 70th minute, which Cormier assisted on once again.
The Bearcats commanded the contest overall, firing 26 shots with 11 on-frame while earning 10 corner kicks in the game.
