Manchester United and Sunderland kick off the Adobe Women’s FA Cup Quarter-Finals late Saturday afternoon before Sunday’s remaining three ties.
United have faced two National League sides so far in their defence of the trophy and scored 13 times, while Championship side Sunderland have seen off Huddersfield Town and won away to Portsmouth and Exeter City.
Manchester City have home advantage over Aston Villa and have put three goals past both Ipswich Town and Leicester City in reaching the last eight. Villa netted nine against fourth-tier Bristol Rovers before edging out Brighton by three goals to two. City have completed a league double over Villa, 2-1 at home and 4-2 away but were behind in both matches. Villa also scored first in a pre-season friendly in which they beat the Citizens 2-1.
Arsenal host Liverpool after the Gunners had home wins over Bristol City and London City Lionesses, the Reds hit five at West Ham before just a 2-0 victory at Rugby Borough. Their one meeting so far this term saw Arsenal win away to Liverpool just before Christmas, thanks to an Alessia Russo goal.
Chelsea play Crystal Palace having progressed with four goals against both Charlton Athletic and Everton, although they had to come from behind to defeat the Toffees. Palace hit Sheffield United for six, before knocking out Newcastle United 2-0. The Eagles’ first-ever home game in the WSL last September saw the Blues run out 7-0 winners.
The draw for the semi-finals will be made on the Adobe Women’s FA Cup YouTube channel at the conclusion of Sunday’s ties.
Meanwhile there is one league game in the top two tiers, with Charlton Athletic entertaining Blackburn Rovers at The Valley with a noon start. A win for the Addicks would see them go third and within four points of leaders Birmingham City, Rovers go into the game just two points off the bottom but with three games in hand.
