Harvey Dykes vs Viktar Chvarkou
In the final fight of the Harlem Eubank vs Josh Wagner fight card, it was the heavyweights in action, with Harvey Dykes (7-0-1, 0 KOs) facing Viktar Chvarkou (6-29, 3 KOs).
Dykes showed good footwork and punch accuracy to control the fight. Chvarkou struggled to land anything of note, but in the fifth round did have his most success, with Dykes nursing two cuts from two separate accidental clashes of heads.
Dykes recomposed well for the final round, picking his punches with more thought. Not a great fight, but the Brighton man deserved the 59-55 victory.
Younes Baati vs Ezequiel Gregores
In the first of two after the main event fights, it was Younes Baati (4-0, 3 KOs) vs Ezequiel Gregores (3-28, 0 KOs) in the welterweight division.
Baati started fast, mixing his shots and punching with intent from varying angles. Gregores did well to survive the first round. While in control of the fight, Gregores landed a right hand, knocking Baati down. Aside from the flash knockdown, Baati moved well and showcased good hand speed and accuracy. The referee’s scorecard read 38-37 in favour of Baati, who almost came unstuck with the last round drama.
Harlem Eubank vs Josh Wagner
After the completion of Roehrig vs Clavier, it was time for Harlem Eubank (22-1, 9 KOs) vs Josh Wagner (19-2, 10 KOs) in the welterweight division.It was a fairly quiet opening round, with Wagner having pockets of success, while Eubank was content to wait for his openings. Over the next couple of rounds, Eubank put his combinations together well, with Wagner limited to occasional success with his jab. The speed of Eubank appeared to trouble the Canadian fighter early on.
The jab of Eubank ensured he disrupted Wagner’s work and controlled the distance. Eubank continued to occupy the centre of the ring and control the fight, letting off accurate punches. Eubank looked in control throughout, while Wagner looked devoid of solutions. It was a fairly straightforward win for the Brighton fighter, whose speed and accuracy saw him win by unanimous decision, with the scorecards reading 99-91, and 100-90 x2 in favour of Eubank.
Lucas Roehrig vs Brice Clavier
The co-main event to Harlem Eubank vs Josh Wagner was Lucas Roehrig (7-0, 3 KOs) taking on Brice Clavier (13-7-1, 7 KOs) in the cruiserweight division.
An eventful opening round saw Roehrig on the canvas from a left hook, after the referee called a break, and another left hook after the break saw the Frenchman receive another telling off from referee Amy Pu. Clavier did land the better shots and rocked the Notting Hill fighter in the second.
Roehrig had Clavier on the floor with a flash knockdown, which seemed to help him settle and use the jab more effectively. A vicious left hook rocked the Frenchman and saw Roehrig on top towards the end of the round. Roehrig enjoyed an impressive third round, putting his combinations together and using his feet more effectively to avoid that dangerous left hand from Clavier.
Roehrig scored another knockdown, this time in round four, landing a well-timed body shot that Clavier did well to beat the count from. Roehrig boxed diligently over the final three rounds, using his jab and landing smart combinations to slow Clavier down. Despite the drama in the early part of the fight, it was a largely dominant showing from “Lights Out.” The referee’s scorecard read 78-72 in favour of Lucas “Lights Out” Roehrig.
Yuvraj Karia vs Brandon Gallardo Vargas
In the bantamweight division, it was Yuvraj Karia (8-0, 4 KOs) vs Brandon Gallardo Vargas (3-11-1, 1 KO).
It was a bright opening round from Karia, who quickly took the centre of the ring, controlling the distance effectively in those first three minutes. Towards the end of the third round, Karia enjoyed a dominant spell, mixing his shots well and showcasing good accuracy, drawing blood from the nose of Vargas. “The Crown Prince” ended the fight on top, and the referee’s scorecard agreed, with Karia taking it 40-36. An impressive UK debut for the 18-year-old, and we will seemingly see him again soon.
Niall Brown vs Pierre Rosadini
Next up on the Harlem Eubank vs Josh Wagner undercard was Niall Brown (17-0, 6 KOs) vs Pierre Rosadini (8-8-3, 0 KOs) in the super middleweight division.
Brown started well, using his height and reach advantage to control the distance effectively. He continued to be the aggressor, but Rosadini enjoyed success in the fourth round, and the cleaner work still came from the Brit. Brown enjoyed an impressive fifth round, landing some nice punches up close, as the increase in tempo left Rosadini looking disheveled.
Brown continued to stay disciplined, outworking his opponent, who kept his shape well and applied plenty of pressure to his opponent throughout. The fight went the distance, with the referee’s scorecard reading 80-72 for Niall “The Power” Brown.
Kieran Molloy vs Zeuz Varguez Soberanis
Next up in the welterweight division was Kieran Molloy (13-0, 7 KOs) vs Zeuz Varguez Soberanis (3-28, 0 KOs). Molloy started well, landing consistently to the body of his opponent, while Soberanis had success with the right hand.
Molloy continued to move his feet well and land with the left hand. As the rounds went on, Soberanis had success, mostly with single shots, while Molloy landed combinations. A great step up fight for the Irish southpaw. The judge at ringside scored the bout 78-74 in favour of Molloy, who remains unbeaten.
Codie Smith vs Franco Andres Cajal
Next up on the Harlem Eubank vs Josh Wagner undercard was Codie Smith (8-0-1, 0 KOs) vs Franco Andres Cajal (8-7-1, 2 KOs) in the super featherweight division.
It was a relatively quiet opening round, with Smith taking the middle of the ring and having some early success. Cajal proved an awkward opponent over the next few rounds in the southpaw stance. Smith continued to stay patient and not rush his work.
Smith continued to land the cleaner shots and enjoyed a good fifth round. Cajal had brief moments of success, but Smith had more success in the final round. The referee’s scorecard read 78-74 in favour of Smith, who remains unbeaten.
Saqib Mehmood vs Jayro Fernando Duran
The opening fight of the night was between Saqib Mehmood (1-0, 0 KOs) and Jayro Fernando Duran (15-42-1, 14 KOs) in the lightweight division.
It was a dominant debut from Mehmood as he settled quickly and put his shots together impressively. He created angles well and showed variety in his punches. His work rate was also impressive, as he never let Duran take a moment. The stoppage looked close in the final round, but Duran just held on to hear the referee’s scorecard, which read 40-36 in favour of Mehmood.
