CLEVELAND, Tenn.- The Lee University soccer teams had eight players named to the 2025 Academic All-District Teams for their excellence in the classroom. The 2025 Academic All-District® Soccer Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
To qualify for the recognition, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale), and student-athletes must compete in 90 percent of the institution’s games played or must start in at least 66 percent of the games.
Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced December 16, 2025.
For the Flames, Matthew Steyn and Ethan Stewart received the recognition. Steyn, a senior, has a 3.78 GPA in finance. Stewart, also a senior, has a 3.83 GPA in sports management.
Six Lady Flames were recognized. Grace Berry*, Avery Sides*, Whitney Carrigan, Lucy Smith, Abby Whitcomb, and Mallory Miller were the six earning the achievement. Berry, a senior, has a 3.73 GPA in nursing. Sides, a senior, has a 3.92 GPA in nursing. Carrigan, a sophomore, is a nursing major with a 3.9 GPA. Smith is a business major and has a 3.64 GPA as a sophomore. Whitcomb, is a senior and has a 3.63 GPA in biology. Miller has a 3.77 GPA as a junior biology major.
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2025-26 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA governance structure.
